Work Joo Heng Tan could well be in the collection of some museum of modern art if they were not so short-lived. The master creates all his grandiose sculptures from the most ordinary sand, and in their original form they are preserved only until the first surf.

Joo Heng Tan won the title of the world's best sand sculptor three times, and for his incredible imagination and amazing technique, the Western press gave him the nickname "Vincent Sand Gogh".

Joo Heng Tan realizes that his sculpture can last for several days at best, but, to the great joy of connoisseurs of beauty, this does not bother him at all. “Beautiful things won't last long,” he says. Joo declares that with his sand sculptures he wants to show people what great art means. But one should not look for bragging in the words of the master: in the spirit of the Eastern philosophical tradition, he teaches us to appreciate the transitory and short-lived. At the same time, the master approaches the creation of his next work as if he had been doing it for centuries.

At times Joo Heng Tanu I had to spend more than 24 hours near my sculpture. Some of his works reached 12 meters in height and weighed tens of tons. You can never guess what the artist will portray next time: it can be both amazing mythical creatures and abstract forms. In my own words Joo, sand is for him the ideal means of embodying the wildest fantasies.

One of his recent projects is a series of sculptures commissioned by the company "OMO"producing cleaning products. On advertising posters eighteen-tone sculptures of the master were accompanied by the slogan "Dirt is good!" Looking at work Joo Heng Tana or Tony Planta cannot but agree with this statement.
