Brian Cassey presented a shocking photo report about the life of the inhabitants Hong kong … The cycle tells about the stratum of townspeople living in dog cages, where the area of personal space barely reaches one and a half square meters.
At the moment in Hong kong more than 7 million people live, according to statistics it is one of the richest cities in the world. However, luxury and extravagance here side by side with terrible poverty. Tens of thousands of its inhabitants live in wire cages measuring 180 by 60 centimeters. The space of the room is used very sparingly: the cells are made up into multi-storey structures, due to which their number in one small room can exceed 30 pieces.
The cages are mostly occupied by workers who cannot afford to rent apartments in Hong Kong high-rises. The reason for this is the appalling cheapness of labor in China. Other inhabitants include elderly people who are no longer able to work and are mentally ill. The Chinese, who are a little more fortunate in life, call these unfortunates "Caged dogs".
The monthly fee for living in such conditions is about two hundred dollars. Renting cages that are closer to the floor is more expensive, although this, of course, has no effect on living conditions. All the inhabitants of the room, whose average number is about twenty, share one toilet and a shower room. Many apartments do not have kitchens, the only way out for local residents is to take food to go.
Many Hong Kongers agree to such living conditions because they have only one alternative - to stay on the street. There are numerous organizations that are concerned about the fate of the inhabitants of the cells, but since their many years of work have not yet brought the desired results, the future "Caged dogs" while it remains foggy.
