After filming "Heavenly Swallows", grandfather Ia invited several people from the film crew headed by director Leonid Kvinikhidze to Tbilisi. It was there, on the holiday, that the actress met Nikolai Shengelai, the eldest son of Sofiko Chiaureli and Georgy Shengelai.

18-year-old Nikusha was incredibly handsome and very talented, he studied at the Academy of Arts, wore a beard and mustache, and seemed to the young actress very adult. During the feast, he asked Eeya to get a cigarette for him and after that he smoked on the balcony while the girl stood next to the door to warn him about the approach of adults. Nikusha looked at her with burning eyes and at some point seemed to kiss her right through the glass. And the next day, he was already standing in the arch opposite the school, clearly waiting for Eeyu. When she left, Nikolai pretended to be passing by, and their meeting was completely accidental.

For the next two years, Nikolai visited the house of his chosen one almost every day. True, at each meeting of them, the grandmother, who believed that a decent girl should not meet alone with a young man, sat in the doorway and watched the lovers.

Parents and grandparents of Iya Ninidze were not happy with the girl's choice. The grandfather was especially angry when Iya, at the request of Nikolai, timidly hinted to his grandfather that he should buy it for the young man "Volga". Roman Fomich, who worked as the general director of Vneshtorg Georgia, adored his granddaughter, but he achieved everything in his life with his own labor, and therefore Nikolai Shengelai's desire to receive the “Wolf” as a gift, without doing anything for this, angered him.

Iya Ninidze was only 17 years old when she became the wife of Nikolai Shengelai. It is unlikely that she had an idea of how her family life would develop. And the surprises began already during the honeymoon, which the young people spent in Pitsunda. Nikusha's friends were constantly in the room of the newlyweds. Iya Ninidze, an incredible cleanliness, constantly cleaned and washed their socks after them. Only Sofiko Chiaureli, having come to visit her son with her daughter-in-law, drove everyone away and enlightened her eldest son.

However, in Moscow, where the young spouses entered VGIK, the situation was even worse. Nikolai did not want to study, most often he spent time with friends, and Oya was torn between school and household. The spouse missed Tbilisi, Moscow seemed gray and gloomy to him. When he was expelled from the institute, faithful Oya followed him to Tbilisi.

But their family life did not work out. Nikolai left home on January 2, the day when the day of fate is celebrated in Georgia, and it should be spent with those with whom you plan to be all year round. Iya found him in the company of friends, took him home, and on the way he suddenly made a scandal on his young wife. From his words it turned out that she had to wait at home for her man. It was almost over. The girl quickly packed her things and went to her father's house. He did not follow her.

Oya recovered at VGIK, and after returning to Tbilisi a year later for the holidays, she met with Nikolai. After that, her husband disappeared again, but showed up when he learned that her husband was expecting a child in order to persuade her to have an abortion. But at the same time, Iya learned that Nikolai's girlfriend, with whom he had a relationship in the absence of his wife, was also expecting a child. It was a betrayal that the actress could not forgive.

Separation tests

The second husband of Iya Ninidze was the novice actor Sergei Maksachev. He also studied at VGIK, but two years younger, and the young people met during the tests. After that, he invited Eyu to dinner and gave him his phone number. She called him before flying to Tbilisi, and right before boarding the plane, he put a silver chain around the girl's neck. After that they called up and once after the performance Ia (she played her first premiere - the play "Taming the Falcon") saw Sergei at the theater …

A year later, they became husband and wife. By the will of fate, Sergei had to look for a job in Moscow, Iya lived in Tbilisi. The spouses even had to divorce so that Sergei could enter into a fictitious marriage for the sake of registration in the capital. In fact, they remained husband and wife, and in the spring of 1985 the son of Sergei Maksachev and Iya Ninidze was born. And a few days after the baptism of George Iya, she learned that her mother had been diagnosed with a terrible diagnosis: oncology.

Iya Ninidze took care of her mother, ran to the hospital with her tiny son. She also worked in the theater and at that time almost fell off her feet from fatigue. But she went out to mom. Her husband helped her financially, but could not stand the test of separation. In Moscow, Oya found women's things in his apartment more and more often. As a result, they broke up for real, not fictitious.

The third husband of the actress, Mikhail Buchenkov, supported Iya Ninidze in difficult times, but after the wedding it suddenly turned out that he had dreamed of living in America all his life. And he was eager to go there with all his might. Even the birth of his daughter Nino in 1991 did not make him change his mind. And Iya Ninidze, who had survived the death of her mother by that time, was already losing heart.

The war was already raging in Georgia. The daughter was not even a year old when Lido appeared in the life of the actress.

With the hope of happiness

He was two years younger than Ia and fell in love with the actress at the age of 13 when he saw "Melodies of the Veria Quarter". Then he promised himself that he would marry this girl. But he married another. When he met Iya, his childhood feelings woke up, becoming many times stronger. He could not leave his wife, and Iya Ninidze was ready to put up with the fact that he did not belong to her entirely. She loved Lido too much to refuse to meet with him.

But fate measured her only three years of happiness, two of which he fought with cancer. Upon learning of the death of a loved one, the actress almost committed suicide. But she still found the strength to live on.

In 1997, Iya Ninidze moved to Moscow, where by that time her son Georgy was already living. Sergey Maksachev persuaded his ex-wife to let his son go to him in the capital. For the first time, Sergei Maksachev arranged for Iyu Ninidze in his room in a communal apartment, and he himself already lived in a different place with a new family.

Later, the actress, on the advice of Julia Gusman, wrote a letter to the mayor of Moscow with a request to provide her with living space. But for this she had to marry a Muscovite, because she was a citizen of another state. She was helped by her colleague from the Cabaret Theater "The Bat" by Grigory Gurvich. Valery Borovinskikh himself invited the actress to sign and admitted with a laugh: "I will be proud that my wife is a People's Artist of Georgia!"

It seemed that the life of the actress improved, but in 2012 the doctors also diagnosed her with a terrible diagnosis: oncology. Before that, she underwent the removal of a benign neoplasm and the new diagnosis was another blow for her. Fortunately, the disease was detected at an early stage and the treatment was very effective.

Today, peace reigns in the soul of Iya Ninidze. She is 60, and the actress truly believes that the best is yet to come. And, perhaps, she will still meet her new love.
