When Soviet films are shown on TV, it seems that they can be watched an infinite number of times. The audience already knows most of the lines by heart, but they still watch with pleasure how the action unfolds. Among the Russians' favorite films is the legendary "brainchild" of Eldar Ryazanov, the comedy "The Incredible Adventures of Italians in Russia."
In the history of cinematography, the comedy is also remarkable: this film was the only one in which viewers can see an episode of a plane landing on the roadway, filmed in real conditions. It was incredibly difficult to implement such a trick, the authorities could not give landing permits, which is not surprising. However, Ryazanov was unwavering: the plane must land on the roadway, period.
The first problem was associated with the fact that it is simply impossible to find a real highway that would withstand the landing of an aircraft. The mass of the flying giant would simply push through the asphalt pavement. The solution was found: the runway was "disguised" as a regular road, the corresponding markings appeared on it, lampposts were placed along the road, and even a sign to the capital was erected. In the frame, you can see a barrel of kvass standing next to the road, and people lined up.
The second challenge was finding a professional pilot who could land the plane in a row with moving cars. The Ministry of Civil Aviation flatly refused to give permission for the Tu-134 to land in violation of instructions. True, the film crew was persistent, it was decided to land the plane anyway.
Ivan Tarashchan, a first-class pilot, took on the most difficult trick. The desire to test his capabilities and self-confidence overcame him, and he agreed to land the plane. He promised to perform the trick on the condition that there were only passenger airplanes on the track, drivers - only pilots, as they could better navigate the situation in case something went wrong.
The episode was filmed in Ulyanovsk, all the pilots who had their own cars took part in the shooting. The filmed episode became a real decoration and the hallmark of Ryazanov's tape.
