Walking through the vastness of the Internet, you often come across the works of contemporary artists who have completely plunged into Russian classical realism and draw from there both the technique and themes of the painters of the past era. This is especially evident in the landscape genre. So, for example, a young artist Alexey Savchenko often called the modern Levitan. His painting is classically Russian. And not because it is consonant with the works of the eminent classic, but mostly because the subjects of his amazing landscapes are associated only with the nature of Russia …
Unfortunately, there is very little information on the Internet about the artist himself, only the creative gallery of the master's works is widely represented. Alexey Savchenko (born 1975) is from Sergiev Posad. At one time he graduated from the All-Russian College of Toys and the Moscow Pedagogical University and received the specialty of a teacher of fine arts and folk crafts. During his 20 years of creative experience, he was a participant in numerous All-Russian and foreign exhibitions and forums, where he gained numerous admirers of his work, conquering them with sketch painting.
And it should be noted that the author writes only in an etude manner, in which he applies a minimum of detailing, and a maximum of the real color gamut of the northern landscapes of Russia. And if we consider that their real color is very, very restrained, then the artist "takes" the viewer not even with color, but with a lyrical mood.
By the way, an etude is a short-term work made from life, without elaboration of details, vividly conveying the state of the environment and its mood. As a rule, sketches are part of a conceived more global pictorial project, but by themselves they can have an independent meaning and be exhibited as separate paintings.
Such are the sketches of Alexei Savchenko, who, wandering a lot with a sketchbook, canvas and paints through fabulously picturesque places, very skillfully opens the viewers to the extraordinary corners of the natural environment and the original beauty of the Russian land. Each of his works, imbued with extraordinary lyricism and grandeur, is clearly thought out in its compositional solution and looks like a completely finished creation.
The artist simply amazingly sees and captures the changeability in the very mood and state of the natural environment at all times of the year and at different times of the day, achieving a real combination of colors, rare lighting effects and striving to mold a holistic picture from wide strokes. And thanks to Alexei's sketch painting, the viewer seems to be traveling through the picturesque regions of Russia.
Bonus
There is also another theme in the artist's work, which he also paints in a sketchy manner, and it should be noted that it is very excellent. This is the theme of wildflowers - the most modest and charming "gifts" of nature.
And finally, I would like to say a few words about the master's achievements. Alexey Savchenko has been a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia and the International Federation of Artists since 2005, and since 2016 - a member of the Union of Artists of the Moscow Region. Today, many of his works are kept in private collections of collectors at home and abroad.
Continuing the theme of painters writing in the direction of realism, the story of the landscape painter Alexander Afonin, who is called the modern Shishkin.
