Thanks to an annoying nuisance, Georg was able to professionally engage in strength training, once at a competition he injured his hand and was treated by the famous doctor Vladislav Kraevsky. It was Kraevsky who appreciated the promising guy and invited him to move to the northern capital. During this period, intensive training begins, during which the lifting of weights was mastered and the methods of struggle were improved. The first serious victories of Georg Gackenschmidt were impressive: he managed to defeat the French strongman Paul Pons, who wore the title of world champion, and also to bypass another legendary Russian Yevgeny Sandov in the press with one hand. Soon, Georg also set a world record in the press with two hands.

It is noteworthy that all his publications were of a practical nature, the athlete shared his own experience, told how to achieve success. "How to Live", "The Complete Doctrine of Struggle", "Consciousness and Character" - these and other books were popular with readers, while the author actively spoke in European universities with open lectures.
