American photographer Camille Seaman known on the Internet for its images of massive polar icebergs. More recently, however, she has become interested in other natural phenomena as well. So, in May 2008, she decided to switch from shooting ice giants to storm clouds over the American Midwest.
Simen's next long-running project is the Big Cloud series. The photographer says the following about his goal: "It was important for me to illustrate the interconnection of all life on Earth." Simen took the first pictures for the project back in 2008 over agricultural fields in the state of Nebraska. Experienced "storm hunters" helped her in this.
It was important for the photographer not only to “catch” the beauty of the pre-storm sky, but also to find the so-called “supercell clouds”, which are considered to be the harbingers of tornadoes. Without assistants, Simen hardly managed to be in the right place at the right time. There are several “storm seasons” in the series, covering the period from May 2008 to June 2012.
Simen was born in the United States in 1969. Graduated from State University of New York. For over fifteen years he has been engaged in landscape photography. From her pictures the polar regions are truly breathtaking.
