In mass culture, as if in a mirror, all the phenomena of modern life are reflected. Every day the world around us is becoming more and more hostile and aggressive, so it is not surprising that creative people immediately react to these tendencies. Illustrator Kasami-Sensei recently presented a series of works "The Walking Disney", on which you can see famous Disney characters in completely uncharacteristic images for them.
Armed and belligerent, cartoon characters are far from friendly. Beautiful Snow White in the company of Cinderella and Princess Aurora, red-haired Ariel next to Prince Eric, warlike Pocahontas next to John Smith, turned into a zombie - these and many other characters are devoid of charm and dazzling brilliance. Instead - shabby clothes, abrasions and cuts on the body, an abundance of blood and weapons in their hands. It feels like each of these characters just won their last fight.
Kasami-Sensei's illustrations have no place for ball gowns, tuxedos, tiaras and crystal shoes. Popular cartoon characters have come face to face with a new reality, and "worthy" have been transformed. Even the background on which they are depicted gives the impression of a crumpled, stained sheet of paper. The author showed an apocalyptic reality, in which only those who are able to stand up for themselves and are not afraid to enter the fight are able to survive.
