Poland is famous for its manufacturing activities. And at the moment it ranks fourth in the ranking of countries with the highest production level. And the history of Polish design has been going on for a long time and is directly related to women who want to change the attitude of residents towards this very design.
The Baba Akcja Team is a team of young female designers who graduated from the University of the Arts in Warsaw in 2005. They opened the studio in the same year, which is quite surprising - the girls turned out to be resourceful and courageous, but also extremely lucky. Already in 2007, they took part in the Designboom store competition in Tokyo, and this year, in 2009, in New York, USA.
For now, that's all about the company, it's time to talk about one of the company's projects. On the screen you can see photographs of an interesting lamp named "Sophia". For a reason, you can see a lot of scanty holes on the lamp - this is not the mistake of the designers, but their idea. The fact is that the lamp was originally conceived in such a way that it can be used in several ways at once.
First, it is a lamp, as you might have guessed. Secondly, the holes can serve to hang there … earrings. Many people keep their jewelry in boxes, however, this is not always convenient. Jewelry usually comes in a variety of sizes, and earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces can get mixed up in a jewelry box. If the earrings are hung separately, the risk that all jewelry will turn into a huge shiny lump is reduced. But not only you and the earrings benefit from this, but also … the lamp.
You turn on the light, and it gets out through the holes, making beautiful earrings shine and shine. It looks especially beautiful in the dark, of course, although you can achieve the same result from daylight. Such a lamp, of course, will appeal to girls most of all - who would not want to hang their favorite jewelry in the most conspicuous place?
