With the advent of televisions, tape recorders, DVD players, computers and other equipment in the twentieth century, representatives of the artistic environment have significantly expanded the list of materials suitable for creativity. Instead of canvases, artists can now use floppy disks, as does Nick Gentry, girl named iRI5 paints portraits not with paints, but with cassette tape, but a sculptor Stephen Rodrigue prefers to work not with marble or bronze, but with obsolete computer parts. This company of authors fits perfectly and George Reidbo (George Radebaugh) who saw his inspiration in CDs.
Sculptures by George Reidbo are made from tens and hundreds of CDs connected in the form of one image or another (currently the author prefers the creation of musical instruments, as well as representatives of the animal world). A seemingly very simple technique leads to a rather unusual and exciting result: sculptures from discs decorate squares and parks, shimmering under the sun's rays and delighting the audience. Unfortunately, there is practically no information about the personality of George Reidbo. Probably, the author prefers that all the attention of the audience was riveted to his sculptures, and not to their creator.
George Reidbaugh also creates palm trees from CDs. As part of one of his projects, the author turned 7 thousand discs into 29 sculptures-trees, and then these thermophilic plants “traveled” through the cities of Washington state for three months, “stopping” in parks and squares. By the way, after the completion of the project, all the palms were sold out.
The work of George Reidbo should especially appeal to environmentalists, because now all the neighbors and acquaintances of the author, instead of sending old discs to the trash, carry them to the sculptor, thus making their small contribution to the development of contemporary art.

Hildegard of Bingen, a medieval diviner and nun whose music made it onto CDs
A woman in the era of the Middle Ages was doomed to seclusion within the walls of a house or monastery, and the fair sex did not even dream of realizing her talents and capabilities in several areas of activity at once. The biography of Hildegarda Bingen, whose name has been preserved in the history of world culture for almost a thousand years now seems to be all the more striking and outstanding
Sculptures of birds and animals from broken CDs. Original artwork by Sean Avery
Australian sculptor Sean Avery still buys CDs in stores in bulk, in large quantities. Why does he prefer them to flash drives and external HDDs? Sean is a creative person, and creative people are weird. The sculptor not only buys discs, but also breaks them into small pieces to then turn the fragments into figurines of birds, animals and insects
Drawings on CDs, DVDs
It was like this: you sit at work and have a minute of time … you would not mind drawing, but at hand (due to the peculiarities of the work) only CDs, DVDs, well, and markers of course for signing them … and so it began first touches on disks)))
Digital water lilies. New Life CDs from Bruce Munro
Compact discs, which were quite common a few years ago, very quickly turned from the main means of distributing digital information into unnecessary garbage that wasted space on the shelves. Someone throws them away, having copied the data to other media a long time ago, and someone uses them for various purposes. The latter include, for example, Bruce Munro, who recently created a hundred giant water lilies from these discs
Drawings on CDs, DVDs (take 2)
And here is the continuation of the previous collection of painting on disks. Yes, I do not argue, maybe this is a banal children's activity, but how much pleasure it brings to me, others))) This is what serves as a further incentive to create new pictures
