Swedish province of Helsingland can rightfully be called an open-air museum. Here is a group of wooden houses, which are more than a century old. The luxurious decoration of each of the houses testified to the well-being of its owner, as the wealthy invested huge sums in the construction of impressive new houses. The farming community in Helsingland has always been very powerful, perhaps nowhere in the world are there such huge farms with a sophisticated aristocratic architecture.
The style of painting of houses in Helsingland is a unique combination of folk art and traditional Baroque and Rococo styles (they were the most popular among lovers of beauty in the 18-19th centuries). Both famous artists and self-taught masters worked on the creation of architectural masterpieces. They often painted the walls of the entrances, and also created a beautiful edging for the windows, especially the porch was lavishly decorated, since it was the hallmark of the house. Today in the province of Helsingland there are more than a thousand farm houses, seven of which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
