By 1834, the artist's clever ancestor had become a merchant of the first guild. During these years, the Kandinsky family took control of almost all trade in Transbaikalia. Even then, the first millions appeared.
It is difficult to find exact information about the nationality of Wassily Kandinsky. Enterprising ancestors confused these tracks. It is believed that great-grandfather Peter forged documents and turned from a Buryat into a representative of the rare Mansi people. The surname is also not generic, but acquired.
The Kandinsky family was considered educated. They subscribed to newspapers, studied foreign languages, and were fond of creativity.
