The whole country knew and loved these actors. Vladimir Zamansky became famous after the release of the film "Checking on the Roads", and after his popularity grew steadily. His wife, Natalia Klimova, was also recognized on the streets, because she played the Snow Queen in the fairy tale of the same name and the Mistress of the Copper Mountain in Tales of the Ural Mountains. But in the late 1990s, the couple disappeared from the screens and stopped appearing in public. What made Vladimir Zamansky and Natalya Klimova completely change their lifestyle?
Student romance
They met at the Moscow Art Theater School, where Natalya Klimova and Vladimir Zamansky did not enter immediately after graduation.
Natalya Klimova, after receiving a certificate of secondary education, was going to become an engineer, and therefore entered the construction institute and successfully studied there for a year. This time was enough for her to understand: construction is not her vocation. The girl resolutely took the documents from the institute, successfully passed all the tests and became a student at the Moscow Art Theater School.
Vladimir Zamansky's fate was much more dramatic. Before entering the theater, he managed to lose both parents, then went to the front as a volunteer, adding a couple of years to himself, in 1945 he was awarded the medal "For Courage", and in 1950 he was imprisoned. Together with his comrades in the platoon, Vladimir Petrovich beat the platoon commissar and was sentenced by the Military Tribunal to nine years in the camps.
True, he was released 4 years later for performing especially dangerous work. By the time of his release, Vladimir Zamansky already knew that he would enter the Moscow Art Theater School, and was able to persuade his boss to “write off” two years of age when issuing documents in order to become a student. For many years, the actor's documents were born in 1928, although in fact he was born in 1926.
He was 12 years older than Natalya Klimova, but this did not prevent the beautiful student from paying attention to him. Moreover, Vladimir Zamansky was very different from his fellow students. Natalia Klimova later recalled: their love story was completely prosaic. Vladimir Zamansky had nowhere to live, and he lived in the warehouse of the theater. Natalya gave the very first gloves to her future husband, believing that he must be very cold.
The actors began dating, and in 1962 they decided to legalize their relationship. And after the marriage, Natalya Klimova, together with her husband, began to live in the same warehouse premises of the theater. Much later, the spouses acquired their own homes.
Both of them were successful and in demand, acted in films, served in the Sovremennik Theater. Vladimir Zamansky later worked at the Film Actor's Studio Theater, often leaving for the shooting. They had to live in anticipation of meeting each other, but this did not spoil their relationship, on the contrary, every minute spent together was of great value.
At a time when they were not yet scheduled, Natalya Klimova became pregnant. And she decided to get rid of the child for the sake of a theatrical career. Unfortunately, then no one told the actress that she would not have more children.
The road to the Temple
Despite the success and demand, Natalya Klimova very quickly realized that the acting profession weighs on her. On the one hand, Natalya Ivanovna took pictures with pleasure, and on the other, she was embarrassed to admit even to herself that she desperately dislikes all this fuss. Many years later, the actress will say that the terrible diagnosis given to her by the doctors even made her happy in some way.
In the early 1970s, doctors discovered Natalya Klimova's blood lymph disease - the most severe form of tuberculosis. The actress began to receive treatment, she underwent several complex operations. Naturally, she left the theater and stopped acting in films. And then she was baptized.
Vladimir Zamansky continued to act in films, worked in dubbing, but over the years he began to think more and more about the meaning of life. His wife's lifestyle gradually brought him to an Orthodox church. In 1981, the actors legalized their marriage before God by getting married in the temple.
Already at that time, Natalya Ivanovna began to think about changing her place of residence. She managed to find a small room in Murom, from the window of which a stunning view of the temple opened. This extension was once a bathhouse, but through the efforts of the former actress it turned into a cozy home for her and her husband.
In 1998, Vladimir Zamansky also completely retired. Since then, the couple have been living permanently in Murom, leading a reclusive lifestyle, visiting the temple.
For 15 years, they diligently kept a vow of silence and did not tell anyone about what prompted them to completely change their lifestyle. As the actors later admitted, they atone for a sin they committed in their youth, when they did not allow their baby to be born. However, now for much that was in the past life, they ask for forgiveness from God.
Today Vladimir Zamansky and Natalya Klimova are at a very respectable age: the actor is 94 years old, his wife is 82. Financially they feel quite secure, Vladimir Petrovich has a very decent pension, many bonuses for titles and awards, and former actors from the Union of Cinematographers regularly get some help. At the same time, the spouses live very modestly.
Natalya Ivanovna tries to support her husband in everything, carefully monitors his health. And she is very afraid to be left alone, not imagining life without her beloved Volodyushka. Vladimir Petrovich understands his responsibility to his wife and holds on to this world, by his own admission, thanks to the efforts of his wife. He really does not want to leave her alone with all the problems and hardships of worldly life.
The spouses try to talk little, read spiritual literature, pray, take care, as best they can, for their house and the area near it. They hope that they will atone for all their sins and will then be able not to part, even after they leave this mortal world. Vladimir Zamansky recalls his acting past with light sadness and hopes that he was able to awaken some high feelings in the audience, make them think about the meaning of life, about honor, kindness, decency.
Natalya Klimova and Vladimir Zamansky do not know how long they have left to live, but they want to walk the rest of their way with dignity.
To many viewers, the acting profession seems to be an eternal holiday: fame, fans, high fees, the opportunity to realize their creative potential, etc. However, many artists, having reached the peak of popularity, instead of the expected feeling of happiness and fullness of life, suddenly felt complete emptiness. Some of them changed their lives so radically that they stopped acting in films and devoted themselves to God.
