Deforestation of tropical forests, pollution of the ocean, melting of glaciers - all this leads to the fact that such seemingly famous species of animals as polar bears, some species of penguins, snakes, monkeys are endangered. This is exactly what the artist Sean Kenney is trying to draw attention to with his exhibition "Living things: a zillion pieces of animal diversity."

Asphalt replaces the earth for us, concrete - wood, plastic - organic matter. These are the sad realities of modern Civilization. The consumer society is turning our planet into a desert and a dump. To satisfy our needs, forests, glaciers, fields, oceans, which are the home of millions or even billions of species of living beings, are being destroyed.

And, perhaps, soon we will not see polar bears and lion tamarins even in zoos - the advancing Civilization destroys the habitats of these animals. But while they still exist on planet Earth, many influential people, including artists, are trying to draw attention to the problem of the extinction of these species.

For example, the artist Sean Kenny, whose exhibit entitled "Living Things: A Zillion Pieces of Animal Diversity" (zillion is a common name for very large numbers) is now taking place at the Philadelphia Zoo.

In some enclosures in this zoo, instead of real animals, there are their plastic counterparts, made by Sean Kenny and his assistants from LEGO bricks. These are the polar bear, Humboldt penguins, lion tamarins and some other animals.

It took the artist and his team about 1,100 hours of work and 259,450 LEGO bricks to create these sculptures. Sean Kenny's job is a warning. If Humanity will continue to be so keen on plastic, then in the near future these animals will only be seen in a plastic version.
