Undoubtedly, Rafal is one of the diamonds of modern art”- such (and many others) laudatory reviews are not stingy when the conversation comes to one of the most famous contemporary surrealist artists Rafal Oblinski.
Rafal Olbinski was born in the city of Kielce in Poland, he grew up in a theatrical atmosphere because his father was an actor and from childhood showed an interest in theatrical posters. The talent of the future artist was noticed quite early, when Rafal drew playing cards for his entire family. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1981, Rafal emigrated to the United States, where he immediately established himself as an outstanding artist, illustrator and designer. In 1985 he received a professorship at the famous School of Visual Arts in New York, where he still teaches.
Rafal's works are an excellent example of a successful synthesis: they very successfully combine surrealism and symbolism (very characteristic of the Polish school of illustrators of posters and emblems in general). The artist himself speaks of his desire to be an illustrator as follows: "Our imagination is a magical world that we are destined to recreate forever."
Rafal Olbinski's illustrations are often used in such publications as: Newsweek, Time, Business Week, Atlantic Monthly, Playboy, Omni, The New York Times, New Yorker. By the way, the illustrator is the winner of the International Oscar for the most memorable emblem (Prix Savignac) for 1994.

With his works, he tries to prove to the viewer that imagination is a magical world that we build ourselves, and we are constantly building.
