We all struggle with stress all the time. Work, school, family, economics … Together they make up our life, but individually they often make us nervous and do not sleep at night. Mark Licari decided to humorously approach the inherent anxiety of human nature and expressed it in his series of sculptures "Nervous Men".
"Nervous People" are three sculptures consisting of multi-colored telephone wires sticking out in all directions. The sculptures are made in full human height and are dressed up in men's suits. Moreover, they are equipped with motors, thanks to which wire people do not just stand still, but make restless and nervous movements.
Mark Licari says that initially "Nervous People" appeared in the form of drawings on paper, and only then he decided to embody them in sculptural forms. The process of creating a sculpture, according to the author, is much longer, boring and laborious compared to drawing. It requires the right choice of material, is often fraught with many mistakes, but all these difficulties do not stop Mark.
Mark Licari was born in 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. In addition to sculpture, the author also draws on paper, paints walls, enjoys lithography and animation.
