Tango, a passionate and flamboyant dance with extraordinary power of attraction, became a craze between the two world wars. Let's move together to the pre-war time, breathe in its aroma, listen to these amazing melodies and remember the undeservedly forgotten or completely unknown names of their creators and performers …
Splashes of champagne
Of course, it is surprising, but the name of the author of this tango, which for many decades has been listened to and loved by millions of people around the world, remains practically unknown to anyone. And it was written by composer from Argentina Jose Maria de Luchiesi.
But even in Argentina itself, almost nothing is known about him, it is only known that he was the leader of the orchestra. The tango "Espuma de Champagne", written in 1935, he recorded on discs for companies from Germany and France, accompanied by his orchestra.
In 1937, without informing the author, such a disc was released in the Soviet Union. True, the author's name was distorted - instead of Luciesi, they wrote Luisi.
But, nevertheless, it was the author's performance of the famous tango. Its original name translates as “foam, bubbling of champagne bubbles”. Translated into Russian, the name turned out to be more "sparkling" and expressive - "Splashes of champagne".
Kumparsita
Many believe that this is the most recognizable tango in the world, "La cumparsita", originally from Argentina. But this is not the case. Its author is Uruguayan Gerardo Hernan Matos Rodriguez.
He wrote it at the age of 19, and this was the first musical experience of the future diplomat. Rodriguez was not a professional musician, but it so happened that thanks to his hobby he became famous all over the world. Residents of Uruguay consider this tango to be their national treasure, they are very sensitive to it and are very proud of it.
Fantastic dance of our skaters, Lyudmila Pakhomova and Alexander Gorshkov, to this music!
Weary sun
This famous tango has two homelands - Poland and the Soviet Union. In 1936, Pole Jerzy Petersbursky, already known by that time for his graceful and elegant melodies, wrote a very gentle tango called "Last Sunday" ("To ostatnia niedziela").
Fogg's wonderful performance of this tango sounded all over Poland, as well as abroad. They heard him in the Soviet Union too.
Here his music was slightly changed, the poet Joseph Alvek wrote new poems, and Alexander Tsfasman wrote a wonderful arrangement. And tango, which was first called "Parting", and later "Tired Sun", scattered across the country. Its first and most famous performer was Pavel Mikhailov.
At the same time, unfortunately, they completely forgot about the author of the music, Jerzy Petersburski … And he later wrote the famous "Blue Handkerchief".
Black eyes
The music of this famous tango to the words of a Russian officer, a member of the White movement A. Perfiliev, was written in 1929 by the Latvian composer Oskar Strok. The very successful arrangement that made this tango extremely popular was composed by the head of the famous orchestra Marek Weber, followed by many more beautiful melodies composed by Strok. But during the war years his "unprincipled bourgeois" music was banned, after the war the persecution continued. At home, the musician lived in poverty, and at the same time his music was performed by the best orchestras in the world. Only in the early 1960s did they talk about Oscar Strok, and his music began to return from oblivion.
In 1971, his first disc was released in the magazine "Krugozor", "Black Eyes" performed by the famous singer from Japan Yoichi Sugawara.
But only in 1975, shortly before the death of the composer, the All-Union Recording Company “Melodiya” finally released a large disc, on which the melodies of Oscar Strok are performed by the orchestra of Georgy Garanyan. In the summer of the same year, the "king of tango" passed away, there were no official reports on this matter …
"I love" and "my happiness"
Of course, the name of the composer Efim Rosenfeld, the author of a number of popular pre-war tangos, has also been undeservedly forgotten. In 1939, two of his discs were released - "I Love" and "My Happiness" performed by the magnificent tenor Georgy Vinogradov.
It's raining
The author of this popular tango, "Auch in trüben tagen" ("Meet again at dusk"), written in 1935, is Henri Himmel, he is the author of both music and poetry. Its other name is its French version - "Il Pleut Sur La Route "(" It is raining "), poetry was written by R. Chamfleury.
The best performer of this world famous tango is the great Tino Rossi.
I'm infinitely sorry
This tango, at first glance, so dear to us, also came to us from Europe under the name "Gypsy plays" ("Tzigane joue") The words were written by the Frenchman Louis Eugene Poteret, opinions differ about music.
Yes, there is some magic of these old, bewitching melodies, from which it becomes warmer in the soul …
