Once he preferred music to a military career and reached real heights: the Gorky Park group, in which he performed, became famous all over the world, and all its members became idols of a whole generation. They were met at the best venues in America and Europe, fans were ready to follow musicians around the world, but Alexander Marshal was looking for his true happiness for a long time. He does not like to talk about his personal life, too often he had to lose and start all over again.

With music for life

He was born in the village of Korenevskaya in the family of a military pilot-instructor and a dentist. The family lived in a military town, and my mother, who incredibly loved big cities, dreamed of her son growing up and becoming a waiter in a chic restaurant somewhere in Leningrad, walking between tables in a bow tie. The father did not support his wife's desire and advised Sasha not to pay attention to his mother's thoughts.

Together with his father, Alexander, who was carried away by music during his school years, made his first semblance of a bass guitar, leaving four strings on it and adapting the speaker. But after graduating from school, he nevertheless entered, like many children of the military from their town, to a military school and was supposed to become a navigator.

True, already in his third year, he realized that music is too important in his life. He began to write dismissal reports, which the platoon commander invariably tore. Then the young man simply stopped attending classes, served in the guardhouse and nevertheless achieved expulsion from the school. But after that he went straight to military service.

There he began to play in two ensembles at once, and after demobilization, having stayed in his parents' house for only a week, he went to the army musician friends in the Crimea.

The twists and turns of love

It seems that it was then that his life spun at an incredible speed. He needed a residence permit in Crimea, and a girl he knew suggested that Alexander Minkov (the real surname of the performer) conclude a fictitious marriage so that she would have legal grounds to register him in her apartment. True, the fictitious marriage soon grew into a real one, only the young people did not feel any feelings for each other.

When, after some time, Alexander was invited to audition in Moscow, he went, taking only a change of linen and a toothbrush with him, because he knew for sure: they would not take him to any ensemble, and he would return to Crimea, where he was so OK. But unexpectedly the bass player was accepted, his things were transferred to the capital by train, and soon his wife came to visit her husband in Moscow. But they were too different to coexist for a long time. The marriage broke up, then Marshal met another girl who almost put an end to his further musical career.

At that time, the Gorky Park group had already been created and the musicians were planning to travel abroad, they were going, at least, to conquer America. When Alexander Marshal broke up with his girlfriend and was actively preparing to leave, he was suddenly summoned to the KGB and shown a letter from his ex-girlfriend.

She notified the authorities that in fact Marshal was not going to tour, but to emigrate and stay in the States forever. Fortunately, the KGB officer was caught quite understanding. He asked the guitarist a few questions, took from him a promise to bring him a portable tape recorder and tore up the statement he had written on Marshall.

In 1987, Gorky Park went on tour to America. By that time, Alexander Marshal was already in a civil marriage with a new girlfriend, who later came to him in the United States, became pregnant and returned to the Soviet Union, where she gave birth to her daughter Polina.

The girl did not have the opportunity to live with her husband in the USA, since the musicians were on the road all the time. Soon she met another man with whom she created a real family. True, she never forbade her daughter to see her father.

Long short happiness

Alexander Marshal met Natasha during that significant tour, when Gorky Park in 1988 performed on the same stage with the legendary Scorpions, which then toured in the Soviet Union. But then there was no flash of lightning and love at first sight. However, she was not there later, when Alexander Marshal came from the USA six years later and saw Natalia in one of the clubs.

They were simply delighted to meet, as old friends are. They communicated more and more, and soon Natalya became the wife of a famous singer and musician, went with him to the United States, where she gave birth to her son Artyom. Alexander was present at the birth, even cut the umbilical cord of the newborn and cried, looking at his own child.

The performer lived with Natalia for 20 years, they were together all the time and it seemed that their happiness would never end. Alexander Marshal never considered himself a womanizer and conqueror of women's hearts, but, having met his Karina, he could not give up his feelings. However, Natalya still works as its director, organizes her ex-husband's tours and, in general, she and Alexander have normal business relations.

Strings of the soul

The performer met Karina on the radio "Chanson", where the girl served as an executive editor. It seems that the musician himself will not be able to explain how and when his feelings for Karina arose. But very soon the relationship from business turned into friendly, and now the singer proudly says that he was incredibly lucky with Karina. They are not at all embarrassed by the 36-year age difference, because there can be no barriers to real happiness.

Alexander Marshal tries not to talk about his personal life, he only says: there have never been a large number of women in his life, and much of what the media write about him is nothing more than speculation.

Unfortunately, the performer's parents died in Kiev, where they lived in recent years, and the Marshal, with the help of friends, had a chance to transport their ashes to Moscow. A year and a half ago, he lost another close person, his younger sister Irina. He still cannot calmly talk about the departure of his loved ones and it takes a lot of work for him to hold back his tears.

Alexander Marshal is actually a very sensitive and vulnerable person. The strings of his soul are sensitive to the slightest change in the environment, and he lives the pain of relatives or friends as his own.

Sometimes one can only wonder that these musicians carried their love of rock through the decades.
