Many artists who participated in the show were nicknamed "Siegfeld's Girl", hence the name of the same name for the photo shoots conducted by Cheney Johnston. Money problems, devastation in the country and stress hit the health of the already middle-aged Siegfeld hard and in the same year, at the age of 63, he died.
In 1960, Cheney Johnston donated 245 of his photographs to the Library of Congress in Washington. Among them are mainly nude photographs of the "Siegfeld girls" and several photographs of famous actors and actresses of that era.
