Initially, the actor refused, but after several unsuccessful attempts to convince him, in his own words, he wondered whether it was worth participating in the restart. The film crew still managed to convince the actor to take part in the tape. Bill Murray will play, however, not a ghost hunter, but an expert in the field of exposing paranormal phenomena. Thus, his hero will be one of the opponents of the "hunters". Speaking of the ghost hunters themselves, women play their roles in the restart.
Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, as well as Jones and Keith McKinnon were in the women's league of evil spirits. Well, since the hunters themselves became hunters, their secretary became a secretary. The role of the latter will be played by Chris Hemsworth.
As for Bill Murray, he explained in detail his final decision during a conversation with media representatives. According to the actor, he thought about the invitation for a very long time. The decision to nevertheless join the project was caused by the unwillingness to provoke a wave of negative reviews from journalists about the film, on the basis of his non-participation, even before its release. Murray said that he believed in the restart, and that the picture should be judged after its release.
