Robert Kirkman talked about why he never uses the word "zombie" in his work, and why the heroes of his work never behave like the heroes of other works about the zombie apocalypse.
Renowned comic book artist Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead series, told fans why the word “zombie” is never used in the series, including in the comic-based movies and TV series coming out on TV screens. According to him, the zombie apocalypse genre is incredibly popular in modern culture. Today there are tens and hundreds of works on this topic. That is why the creators of The Walking Dead wanted to distance themselves from questions about why they do not do or try to do something “stereotypical” in their creation, which is usually done against zombies, for example, shooting in the head.
According to Kirkman, this is due to the fact that the action of "The Walking Dead" takes place in an alternative world, where works about the living dead have never been popular in popular culture. As a consequence, the heroes do not use the word "zombie", as they simply do not know that it can be used in this context. For the same reason, the heroes of the series do not try to do something that they usually do against zombies!
So, for example, in "The Walking Dead" undead are called "floats", "biting", "rot" and so on. It is worth adding that the very name "The Walking Dead" is a kind of play on words and denotes not only zombies, but also heroes, hinting that, despite all efforts, all the "still alive" will still die and turn into zombies, thus, they are still the walking dead.
Meanwhile, television in the United States is currently showing the seventh season of the series. At the moment, this work has the highest ratings among serials and television programs in America.
