On August 28, the famous actress of tetra and cinema, People's Artist of the RSFSR Natalia Gundareva could have turned 72, but 15 years ago she passed away. She has played more than 65 film roles, and many films with her participation have become classics of Soviet cinema. One of them was the film "A hostel is provided for the lonely", the main character of which turned out to be very close to the actress, because in many ways she reminded her herself …
The script was written by playwright, publicist, satirist, VGIK teacher Arkady Inin. He often drew ideas for his works from the surrounding life. Inin collected paradoxical, funny and ridiculous publications in the press, and one day friends sent him a marriage announcement from the newspaper: "A single woman wants to marry a man under 40." In those days, such publications only began to appear in the media and seemed absurd to readers - can a Soviet woman offer herself? Inin said: "". The situation seemed to Inin anecdotal, and thanks to this announcement, the idea of the film "Lonely is given a hostel" appeared. The title of the film was also borrowed from the newspaper - this phrase ended with the announcement of the search for specialists for work.
It is interesting that at that time the word "loneliness" rarely sounded in the media and even less often became the main theme of feature films - a Soviet person could not be lonely, because he was always in a team! But the number of divorces by the beginning of the 1980s. has reached a record high - 4 divorces for 10 marriages! Inin recalled: "". In order to study more closely the reasons for the "unhappiness of the individual in the team", the playwright went to the female dormitory of the machine-tool plant. Ordzhonikidze. There he talked for a long time with local residents and wrote down all his observations in a notebook. From these peeped women's destinies, images of the future film were born, the main idea of which was: personal happiness is more important than collective!
There was only one fictional character, atypical for the Soviet era - the matchmaker. Pimping was then not only considered indecent, but also punishable by law. But it was the matchmaker who became the main character of the film. Vera Golubeva, a leading weaver, studies newspaper marriage advertisements in her free time and looks for a suitable pair for her lonely dorm mates. She does it completely disinterestedly - simply out of a desire to help women arrange their destiny. Arkady Inin knew in advance who should play this role - he wrote this image in the script under Natalia Gundareva, whom he was fascinated with since he first saw her on the stage of the Theater. V. Mayakovsky.
However, the director Samson Samsonov had his own ideas about who should play the main character of the film. He was a great connoisseur of female beauty and in the role of Vera Golubeva he saw the beautiful blonde Elena Drapeko, the star of the film "… The Dawns Here Are Quiet." According to the scriptwriter's plan, the main character was not supposed to be a bright beauty, but an ordinary, inconspicuous worker of a weaving factory. Elena Drapeko had her hair dyed dark blond, dressed more modestly, turned into a gray mouse, but the image still turned out to be the wrong one. She passed screen tests and photo tests, but in the end, Natalya Gundareva played the matchmaker, and Elena Drapeko got another role - the charismatic Ninochka, Vartan's bride played by Frunzik Mkrtchyan, who returns her to the hostel because she did not know how to cook.
Probably, this choice of the main character largely predetermined the future success of the film, because Gundareva perfectly understood the author's intention, who did not want to shoot either a comedy, or a melodrama, or even more so a drama in its purest form. It was important for him that his heroine looked both comical and lyrical at the same time, so that the audience would smile, and sympathy, and sympathy. And Gundareva succeeded in such roles just brilliantly. Probably, no one else could have embodied his idea so accurately, which Arkady Inin explained as follows: "".
The heroine of Gundareva Vera thinks like this: "". Therefore, she is trying to help her charges. But she doesn't even think about her happiness - Vera herself is alone. She once had a husband, but the marriage fell apart, and after unhappy love, she is simply afraid to connect her fate with any of the men. But one day a new commandant appears in their hostel - the stern former sailor Viktor Frolov, whose role was brilliantly played by Alexander Mikhailov. At first, a sharp antipathy arises between the heroes, but over time it is reborn into love. And the matchmaker, who arranged the fate of many single women, gets married herself in the final of the film. Behind the scenes, Natalya Gundareva largely repeated the fate of her heroine.
Like her character Vera, the actress found true love in adulthood. She married three times, but did not like to remember the first two marriages. 10 years before the filming of the film "Lonely is given a hostel" Gundareva married the famous director Leonid Kheifets, but this marriage lasted only 6 years. The husband wanted to see her as a caring mistress, and she was then too focused on her career. In 1979, she married actor Viktor Koreshkov, but this marriage soon fell apart due to her husband's infidelity. By the time of filming, Gundareva managed to become disillusioned with men, and the feelings of her heroine were very clear and close to her. Therefore, it seemed to the audience that she was playing herself.
And just like her Vera, she was able to find her happiness when she herself no longer believed in it. In 1986, 3 years after filming this film, the actress married the actor Mikhail Filippov, who became a real support and support for her. The only thing that Natalia Gundareva was deprived of was the joy of motherhood. “, - said the actress. -.
No one expected that the comedy melodrama, which was born out of a newspaper marriage announcement, would be so popular with viewers. In 1984, more than 23 million people watched it. Many women recognized themselves in the heroines, this story seemed to most of them very understandable, close and familiar. Although there were those who sent outraged letters - they say, they had never seen anything like this in their dormitories, and this film offends not only weavers, but all women in general, because Vera is engaged in an unworthy business! But one could not deny the fact that in the film "Lonely Hostels" for the first time so simply and openly the whole country sounded a topic that really worried many. And after it came out in the mid-1980s. in Moscow and Leningrad, and then in other cities, the first marriage offices began to appear.
Many of them had more dramatic lives than their heroines: How did the fate of the actresses of the film "Lonely are provided with a hostel".
