12 years ago, Canadian artist Geoff Slater invented his own way of painting. This style is called "Amaze Art" or line drawing. The peculiarity of his paintings, as you might guess from the title, is that they are drawn using one continuous line.
The idea of creating unique paintings was born to Geoff unexpectedly: “One morning I woke up with the idea of creating such images, told my wife about it, and she replied:“Sounds good, let's see how it will look”. Since then it all started."
The line drawing the image is not only not interrupted, but also has no points of intersection or contact. The color of the line flows smoothly from one to the other, and Geoff uses only three primary colors - red, yellow and blue (and for acrylic drawings - still white). By mixing them, he achieves the desired shade.
“Line is one of the main elements of art,” the artist says. - It represents a certain connectedness - a thread that ties objects and individuals together. Water, trees, earth, and man-made objects are linked to each other. And I show with the help of a line - not as a contour, but as a complete image - how kilometers of land, sea and sky merge into each other in one brush stroke."
The process of creating an image is quite laborious and takes from four days to several weeks. Work always starts with a rough draft - a simple watercolor painting. Then another image is created - larger and in pencil. Such preparations are necessary, because in the main work the author has no right to make mistakes.
Geoff Slater lives in St. Andrews, Canada. He claims to draw inspiration from his surroundings, including people and landscapes. Geoff names Vincent van Gogh and Michelangelo Buonarroti as his favorite artists. The gallery of the artist's works is on the site.
