Have you ever heard or seen anywhere such wonderful animals as birds and dogs? If not, then you have a chance to get to know them better. Looking at this species of animals, I think that each viewer will have his own feelings and sensations. To some, these feathered dogs will seem cute, while others will give them goosebumps. But we must admit that the sculptures by Australian artist Emily Valentine are quite interesting and original, this is their dignity and uniqueness.
Over the past ten years, Sydney-based sculptor Emily Valentine has developed her own technique and style for creating colorful dog-birds, using the feathers of birds killed on the roads, strangled by cats, or simply feathers from feathered pets that died at their owners' homes. By decorating dog dummies with feathers as needed, Emily Valentine gives birth to a new species of winged dog. Some of the Australian artist's works were awarded prizes at the New Zealand Contemporary Art Festival.
In her work, Emily Valentine wants to discuss how people's attitudes towards wearing clothing made from fur and animal feathers have changed. Has this fashion changed, or has society just become more attentive and caring towards our smaller brothers? The artist wants to make the viewer think about how he subconsciously classifies animals and birds - are they pets or pests for him, are they important or unnecessary, beautiful or nondescript?
