American artist Dan May - one of those people who are never bored alone. Because even alone with themselves, they are not alone. In the heads of such people there are amazing fantasy worlds in which there is a place for outlandish creatures and plants, as well as people who believe in all this. These fictional worlds, along with their wonderful inhabitants, are reflected in the paintings of Dan May. Despite their sometimes terrifying appearance, these creatures seem fluffy and gentle, defenseless and desperate for care. The artist's melancholic paintings are capable of making anyone want to take these strange pussies in their arms, caress them, stroke them, feed and warm them. Who knows, maybe this is how cats are represented in unknown worlds. Or maybe these are they, alien kids - outwardly unlike our children, but inside they are just as cute, naive, trusting. They comprehend this world with the same curiosity and responsively respond to all its external manifestations.
Someone will say that the fabulous monsters and the outlandish worlds in which they live are the colorful dreams of a person who has seen enough of bright Disney cartoons and darkly magical films by Tim Burton. But the artist claims that these delightfully strange images are generated by his creative imagination, and they are often based on his personal observations of the relationship between man and nature. Although it cannot be denied the influence of Burton's masterpieces on his work, it was Edward Scissorhands performed by Johnny Depp who portrayed the artist in one of his surreal paintings.
Dan May's astonishing artwork is exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and overseas. At one time, the artist collaborated with many publishing houses, design firms, advertising agencies and print media. An extensive selection of fantasy drawings can be found on his author's website.
