A pear is hanging, you can't eat … It seems that some of the designers take these words literally. Sarah Illenberger, for example, clearly sees food as a source of inspiration, rather than a regular way to get something to eat. She constructs luxurious dresses from greenery, makes a watermelon rain, laces up bananas and assures that a melon is nothing more than a soccer ball.
If Sarah Illenberger's profession were less creative, then the words that precious stones are hidden in beets would sound at least strange. But designers (as well as artists) are forgiven for a lot. The famous creative imagination is legendary. And there is nothing strange about that. Not everyone will be able to see the outlines of a disco ball in a pineapple. Moreover, not everyone will be able to build this very ball. Whereas the Sarah Illenberger collection is simply replete with such metamorphoses.
Delicious still lifes from artists Felipe Barbosa and Rafael Medeiros look no less impressive. And if Sarah Illenberger saw lipstick in carrots, then in the “Taste Shapes According to the Nature” collection the vegetable acts as heels.
