"I sculpt forests, villages, rivers, mountains with a mosaic of flora" - this is the creative motto of the original Russian florist artist Alexander Yurkov. At first glance, his paintings are no different from hundreds of landscapes inspired by the beauty of nature. However, if you take a closer look, you will notice that the master did without a brush and paints, instead he used … dry leaves, herbs and flowers.
Alexander Yurkov created a unique direction in art - florian mosaic … The technique of its creation is simple and complex at the same time: the master carefully selects dried leaves and blades of grass, "composing" whole pictures from them without using paints or pencils. The artist selects the color scheme so precisely that the viewer gets the feeling that there are real oil paintings in front of him. Of course, the creation of Florian mosaics is a painstaking business, requiring from the master not only patience, but also good eyesight, as well as a subtle sense of color.
Alexander Yurkov was born in 1935 in the Perm region. He showed creative abilities from childhood: after graduating from art school, he entered the art school. The master devoted his life to the theater: he worked as a production designer in drama theaters in Krasnoyarsk, Kansk, Krasnodar and other cities, designed performances in theaters in Leningrad and Moscow, was the chief designer of the Nizhny Novgorod Academic Drama Theater named after I. M. Gorky. In 1998, Yurkov opened the author's gallery "Yurkovka", where more than a hundred of his paintings are presented. There you can find works made not only from autumn leaves, but also from matches, watermelon seeds and scraps of securities.
