Illustrations by this wonderful artist need no comment. You can look at them without words, as at postcards, as at children's photographs - with a smile and feeling how warm it becomes in your soul, and light in your heart. You will probably say that such pictures should certainly become illustrations for children's books, and you will be right. Rob Scotton has a long history of collaboration with HarperCollins Children 'Books, and his first book with illustrations was called "Russell the Sheep" ("Russell le mouton") … In the book, Russell the Sheep couldn't fall asleep on time. Neither total darkness, nor counting one's own legs, nor billions of stars in the sky, nor a soft bed, nor sleeping in the open air helped …
Even when the lamb climbed into the hollow of the bees and into the trunk of an old car, it did not help her fall asleep. The time is already approaching morning, and Russell still cannot sleep. Then she came up with an idea that is usually advised to all babies and toddlers who have the same problem with sleep: counting sheep. She didn't have to go far. Russell began to count her friends sleeping on the lawn nearby. One, two … nine … But the dream still does not come. And suddenly it dawned on the lamb that she had not counted all of them - she had forgotten herself! And then a long-awaited dream came to her …
In addition to the adventures of a cute lamb, Rob Scott has many more amusing pictures: a cat named Splat, a cheerful cheerful cow, and a whole series of sculptural images of animals loved by many. All of this is on the Rob Scotton website.
