Video: The (un) visible world of Ana Ventura

Cracked, burnt-out, with peeling paint - the walls of houses in this state will seem attractive to few people. And Portuguese illustrator Ana Ventura sees them as a real source of inspiration. You just need a little imagination - and nondescript walls will come to life, and cracks and spots will turn into funny characters.
The amazing thing is imagination. It is this that helps Ana Ventura to see the opportunity for creativity where others see only dirt and neglect. A piece of plaster that has fallen off in a few moments turns into a dreamy young lady's hairstyle or the face of a good-natured animal. All you need is to finish drawing the missing details right on the wall of the building.
It is noteworthy that Ana Ventura never uses bright colors in her work: her "intervention" is carried out through thin lines and muted tones. And the name of the series of these works by the author is appropriate - “(In) visible”, that is, “(Not) visible”. Whether you see these drawings or not depends only on yourself, on your attentiveness and, most importantly, your desire to see them. How else can you evaluate the work of Ana Ventura, if not as a call to break free at least for a moment from the frantic rhythm of modern life, stop, look around - and find the beautiful and surprising even in the most ordinary things that we usually do not notice when we run past them?
Ana Ventura was born in Lisbon in 1976. He currently works as an illustrator and freelance artist. Personal exhibitions of the author's works were held in the USA, Portugal and Germany; as part of group exhibitions, her works were shown in Sweden and Spain. Ana Ventura's work is presented in detail on her website.
