Instead of marble - twigs and twigs. It would seem that the stubborn material has turned into recognizable figures of people touchingly pressed against the trees in the park. Impulsive and gentle hugs symbolize the desire to return to nature, to receive support from her and ask for forgiveness. The international project of Polish emigrants living in the USA, Agnieszka Gradzik and Viktor Shostalo, wanders across Europe and America.
We have already talked about how wonderful lamps are obtained from trunks and animals from branches. Next in line are the wicker men from the Tree Hugger Project.
“Lonely trees, lonely people …” To prevent the trees in the park from being so dreary, the future co-authors of the project decided to make hand-made friends for them. Gradually, the idea took shape, combining the preferences of the authors. The fact is that Agnieszka Gradzik has always been interested in environmentally friendly materials that are lying around idle underfoot. Brushwood, twigs, tree branches - all this can be used to make the most interesting work! Viktor Szostalo (Wiktor Szostalo) added to the project's treasury a passion for conceptual, ideological art, so that the audience had something to think about.
Agnieszka is now 32 years old, Viktor is 59 years old. The idea came into being 6 years ago, and since then, park sculptures illustrating related feelings for nature have been growing every year in different parts of the Old and New Worlds. Over these 6 years, the words “stand up for the environment” have acquired an additional meaning: why not, stand and stand, hugging a tree (there are enough of them for everyone).
Most often, sculptures are 2 to 4 meters tall. It all depends on the terrain and the height of the tree that the wicker people have to embrace. The co-authors try to ensure that the park sculptures do not greatly exceed human growth and do not turn into giants who are difficult to empathize with. In addition, security considerations work as well. When the stick figures crumble (and this is inevitable), it is important that they do not hurt or crush people, so the authors abandoned too heavy bulky structures.
Branches and twigs most often come from the same parks where a "simultaneous hug session" is expected. Thus, it turns out that each tree returns to itself in the form of a wicker man and snuggles against itself. Park sculptures tell that life is constantly returning to normal, eternally following from birth through death to new birth.
The authors hope to involve in their favorite business as many people as possible who could feel the beauty and touching love for every living creature.
