Everyone knows that musicians, actors and other participants in show business have both fans and admirers. Someone does not see a big difference between these two concepts, but it is. The fan creates an idol for himself and loves his image. The admirer is a more adequate being. So, a fan will never rush to the end of the world to attend a concert of his favorite artist, he will not follow him around the cities, making the same tour as a musician … In the end, a fan has his own life - and a fan with all his might tries to resemble an idol, and mainly outwardly. And sometimes he succeeds in this venture.
So, an American photographer James Mollison for three years I watched the fans of certain popular groups, for three years I photographed individual representatives of these parties, and the result was an art project Disciplespresented as a separate album with photographs.
Do not make yourself an idol - one of the 10 biblical commandments, which is sometimes violated more often than others. And we see what comes out of it. Not only is it funny and ridiculous, so sometimes people who want to try on the guise of their idol still look sad and scary. Attack of the Clones or Halloween Costume Parade? In any case, this art project is as instructive as it is entertaining.
Not all photographs from this curious project are presented in the article. For the rest, check out James Mollison's personal site.

Rogvolodovich, not Rurikovich: Why Prince Yaroslav the Wise did not love the Slavs and did not spare his brothers
In the official historiography, Yaroslav the Wise for a long time appeared to be an almost sinless ruler, the creator of legality in the Russian lands. In our time, he is already accused of sending several of his brothers to the next world in order to occupy the Kiev throne. But was it only the desire for power that drove Prince Yaroslav? If you look at the history of his family, then everything that happens is more like revenge … to his father. Bloody revenge for bloody atrocity
People, people and again people. Drawings by John Beinart
If you only have a couple of moments to get to know Jon Beinart, then, glancing over his paintings, you will see black and white portraits or several human figures. But the drawings of this author are nevertheless recommended to be considered more thoughtfully and more carefully: and then you will see that in each image there are tens and hundreds of people, who can be peered at for hours

Photo project "Animalia": animals are not people, and people are not animals
Imagine an empty, empty city where there is not a single person. Empty houses, workplaces and public places, empty streets and parks. There is not a single human soul. No life. Rather, there is no human life, but there is an animal
Robin Eley's Idolatry: Don't Make Yourself an Idol
At first glance, paintings by artist Robin Eley seem to be unusual photographs. Unusual because almost all models are wrapped in cellophane. As it turned out, this is how the artist expresses his attitude to the modern world. The collection of realistic paintings is called "Idolatry" and shows how funny people look when they worship inanimate objects: mobile phones, luxury cars, new things
