It has already been mentioned more than once that in African countries, women's rights have been reduced to almost zero. They are oppressed, bought, sold, raped, and their genitals cut off. And they endure all this without a murmur. But not all. V Kenya there is a unique village where only women live, and men are strictly forbidden.
In 1990, Kenyan Rebecca Lolosoli (Rebecca lolosoli) a settlement was founded called Umodja (translated from Swahili - "unity"). She united 16 women victims of male violence around her and declared matriarchy, men were forbidden even to cross the borders of the village.
To survive in arid areas, women raised chickens instead of cattle. Some of them tried to trade in corn flour and sugar, but to no avail. Then the women found the only right solution: to attract tourists and start selling souvenirs made of beads and colored fabrics. After that, the village began to flourish.
Unfortunately, men from neighboring settlements did not quite like this state of affairs. Not far from Umoja, they founded their village. Their goal was to block the road to women. One day, a group of 30 men beat up the villagers in front of the tourists. To stop this outrage, the residents of Umoja managed to buy the land where their village is located and officially close the entrance to unwanted persons.
Umodja is not the only African village ruled by women. Among the Tuareg people, only girls are allowed to have several lovers before marriage., and men after reaching the age of majority are required to wear a face cover.
