2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2024-01-10 02:10
Warm and snowless winter, perhaps, is someone's dream, but still such weather is abnormal for our latitudes. But what about snowballs, sledges, skis? What about snowmen and snow fortresses in the yard? Nostalgic for a carefree childhood, when there was enough snow for winter games with friends, we present you an overview of amazing sculptures created from ice and snow by skilled craftsmen.
It's no secret that in winter, according to tradition, annual competitions and exhibitions of ice sculptures are held. Our review presents just those statues that have become winners in one category or another at exhibitions of different years.
Installation "Melting People"
It was presented at the end of 2006 by the Brazilian artist Nele Azevedo. "Melting men" is an installation dedicated to the coming global warming. This is how the author creatively and a bit sadly expresses his attitude to disappointing forecasts.
Symbol of the new year
I don't know if this sculpture was timed to coincide with the New Year's holiday, or if its author simply loves big and predatory cats, but in the coming year, the image of this brilliant tiger is very welcome.
Cartoons
Another confirmation that not only children love watching cartoons and playing with snow.
Cities
Love for their hometown often pushes people to feats. And the symbol of the hometown carved out of blocks of ice - why not a feat in the name of its prosperity? Here we have sculptures dedicated to France and London.
Miscellaneous
And a few more amazing snow and ice statues, which at one time were admired by hundreds of people present at the exhibition. It is a pity that this beauty is short-lived, and how great that it can be preserved at least in photographs.

How a film about the Battle of the Ice was filmed in the summer of 1937: Wooden ice floes and other behind-the-scenes secrets
In 1937, Sergei Eisenstein, recently rehabilitated in the eyes of Soviet society, received an offer from the director of Mosfilm to create a historical picture. The director was offered plots and characters from Russian history to choose from, and he settled on the figure of Alexander Nevsky. After the release of the screens, the film overshadowed even the famous "Chapaev". The audience marveled at the courage of the actors, who had to shoot in cold water in winter. No one guessed that the main scene of the picture, Ice n

Made in China: a copy of the Austrian village of Hallstatt in the Middle Kingdom
No one will argue that the 21st century began under the motto: "Made in China". We are all so used to this cliché that it seems like the Chinese can do anything. We started with semi-basement sewing workshops and cheap equipment, continued with high technologies. The next step is the most ambitious step: from now on, the stamp "Made in China" can be put not only on goods, but also on entire villages. Recently, in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, the village of Hallstatt appeared - an exact copy of the Austrian
