They say that in order to keep track of your weight, you need to write down everything that was eaten. It turns out an impressive list, and conscience does not allow to lengthen it with anything. It is not known whether the English artist David Meldrum wanted to lose weight, but last summer he decided to fix everything that he would eat for a whole year. True, for greater effect, not writing down, but sketching. An original artistic experiment has recently come to an end. As you can easily calculate, the British illustrator has 365 different food drawings.
Essex-based graphic designer David Meldrum, 48, began the art and food experiment on June 15 last year. The illustrator was interested not only in the products themselves, but also in their design, packaging design, which change quite often. So why not sketch them as a keepsake?
In order to make 365 color illustrations, the artist had to keep his notebook for a whole year, fixing images in hot pursuit, as well as collecting labels and candy wrappers for his daily report.
David Meldrum did not miss a single day, and on June 14 of this year, the report on the work eaten was ready. It turned out, for example, that during the year the Englishman drank 1360 cups of coffee, 173 liters of beer, and ate 122 chocolates. The 21st century son's food confession includes both McDonald's food drawings and visual reports of trips to gourmet restaurants.
For each picture, David Meldrum spent one and a half to two hours - quite a lot with a busy work schedule. But the agreement was more expensive than money, so sometimes it was necessary to not get enough sleep. For drawings of food, the artist used acrylic and watercolors, ink, pens, applied the collage technique.
All 365 still lifes were on display to the public, and within a week London contemporary art lovers could buy any day from their compatriot's recent past.
