Nelson Mandela - this is one of the greatest figures of the twentieth century, whose fate, whose struggle, whose perseverance in convictions and the rightness of their actions can serve as an example for future generations. So it is dedicated to him monumentcreated in South Africa by a sculptor Marco Cianfanelli.
Mandela's face is one of the most recognizable in the world among politicians. As proof of this, you can cite the work of different artists who depicted him at different times and in different ways. For example, WBK, who created it from keys from old keyboards, or Peter Mason, who compiled Mandela from postage stamps.
And recently in South Africa, near the city of Durban, another image of Nelson Mandela, the first black president of this country, appeared. The creation of this monument is timed to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of the famous imprisonment of this fighter for civil rights, which eventually lasted twenty-seven years!
In 1962, the authorities of the Republic of South Africa sent Mandela to prison, and in 1990 he came out of it with triumph, becoming during his imprisonment a world symbol of nonviolent resistance, the desire of the oppressed South African people for freedom and equality of rights with the white population of the country.
The monument, created by Marco Cianfanelli, consists of fifty metal poles, symbolizing both the prison bars and the fifty years that have passed since the beginning of Nelson Mandela's imprisonment.
Moreover, these steel columns are made and exposed in such a way that from the side in their thickenings one could see the face of Nelson Mandela, the greatest African politician of all time.
