The other day Tristan Schoonraad, or simply Schoony, organized an interesting exhibition in the Graffik London gallery. He created thirty copies of his "Boy Soldier" sculpture and invited leading artists in the British and European art scene to paint these works. Thirty different versions of the same sculpture, collected in one exhibition hall, is an amusing and amazing sight.

In the art of Schoony not so long ago. He was born in 1974 and has spent most of his life in the UK and US film industry, in charge of special effects and make-up. The author has worked in such films as Troy, Clash of the Titans, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, Rambo, Harry Potter. “I've created monsters, dead bodies, aliens, weapons, Lancaster bombers,” Schoony says. "Now my skills help me in my creativity."

Schoony's most famous sculpture, Boy Soldier, was modeled on his seven-year-old nephew. The author made a cast of his body, after which he cast a sculpture out of white fiberglass. In one hand, the boy holds a grenade, in the other - a pin from it. The semantic load of this work is understandable even without words, but Schoony nevertheless considers it necessary to explain: “This is a statement about the future of every child. My nephew is seven years old here; some soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq are under ten. I do not want such a future for my children."
