In London, November 19, an auction will be held, which will sell several works of famous artists at once. In particular, among the lots-portraits, there will also be a picture of the notorious Andy Warhol - "Lenin". As you might guess, the canvas depicts none other than the leader of the world proletariat. Experts from the auction house estimated the portrait of the leader of the socialist revolution in Russia at 50-70 thousand pounds sterling. In terms of US dollars, this is from 80 to 110 thousand dollars.
Auction experts do not exclude that the auction dedicated to "Lenin" will be quite lively and the picture will go under the hammer more expensive. And although it is difficult to name an approximate cost, experts emphasize that in certain circles, Andy Warhol's work is of great interest.
The painting "Lenin" was created by Andy Warhold in 1987 and was included in the virtually dying release of the artist's portraits. The artist died on February 22, 1987. In total, Andy Warhol created more than 120 such portraits in his life. The size of each is 1 meter by 75 centimeters.
In addition to Andy Warhol's works, the Bonham's auction will also feature works by other artists, both famous and little-known among a wide audience. Among them will be works by Joan Miró, Roy Lichtenstein, Salvador Dali, Lucien Freud, Marc Chagall, Rene Magritte, Henry Moore and many others. Trades are extended for two days, however, they can be extended due to the "technical" features of trades.
It should be noted that today the portraits of Vladimir Ilyich are in great demand in the West. Thus, the works "Black Lenin" and "Red Lenin", belonging to the pen of Andy Warhol, were sold earlier for more than 160 thousand US dollars.
