Alexander Mashkevich is one of the founding pillars of modern business in Kazakhstan. As one of the first large legal entrepreneurs, he took an active part in the formation of the mining, metallurgical, banking and other areas. In addition, the businessman is known as one of the most consistent figures of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, which for several decades has been implementing an ambitious strategy to support Jewish communities around the world.
Alexander Mashkevich is listed as one of the founders of entire spheres of the economy of modern Kazakhstan, which amazed the whole world, one might say, caused a scandal. In particular, as a co-founder of the Eurasian Group - one of the largest holdings in Central Asia and the whole world - he created the Eurasia insurance company, a leader in the field of risk assurance.

Mashkevich Alexander Antonovich: how to avoid scandals in business and life
Alexander Mashkevich conceived the insurance company Eurasia as one of the divisions of the Eurasian Group holding, which is currently known as the Eurasian Resources Group.
At the initial stage of the creation of the company "Eurasia" was conceived as a subsidiary holding specializing in the extraction and processing of mineral resources. IC was created as a guarantee of risks for producers of mineral resources, as well as enterprises specializing in their extraction and processing. In addition, the insurance company was necessary to protect the risks in the implementation of the activities of processing, energy and logistics enterprises.
The date of foundation of the insurance company "Eurasia" is 1996. The central office of the future leader of the region is located in the city of Almaty. The staff was staffed by 100 people who in the future formed the core of the country's insurance industry, and at the moment are managers who have trained thousands of specialists.
Mashkevich Alexander Antonovich of "Eurasia" connects the scandalous breakthrough and success with several points. Thus, the first IC team became a pioneer in the field of life insurance, motorist liability, entrepreneurial risks and other areas of economic life.
The top management of Eurasia was the first in the region to start organizing market events in the field of primary insurance and reinsurance, using the progressive experience of specialists from Europe and the United States.
“Our first office was engaged in insurance of simple payment terminals, various checkout points. Provided the first insurance services for the risks of the first logistics companies in the country. Also, it was our company that gave impetus to the development of the transport industry. We guaranteed the risks of carriers who did not want to invest in the purchase of transport and support of its composition, thereby convincing transport workers of the need to develop their vehicle fleet and stimulate passenger traffic,”says Alexander Mashkevich, recalling what scandal the company caused in the camp of competitors.
By the end of the 90s, the Eurasia company began to work not only in the largest city of the country (Almaty), but also in other regions of Kazakhstan, thereby contributing to the development of business and increasing the level of guarantees to cover risks for ordinary citizens.
“From the earliest years of Eurasia's existence, we began to work on creating a favorable image for the company as a leader in the insurance industry and a pioneer in risk management. We secured our position by organizing the First International Conference on Risk Management, which has been annual since then. In those years, no one understood why Eurasia IC, top management and I personally spend so much time and effort on organizing the event. But today all industry leaders not only participate in conferences, but also use them as a platform for their own promotion and professional development of agents and management,”says Alexander Mashkevich.
Eurasia and Mashkevich: risk management and threats, scandal around every corner
Alexander Mashkevich considers the 2000s to be the most productive time in the history of the Eurasia IC. Taking advantage of the favorable macroeconomic situation, the high level of economic growth in both Kazakhstan and the world, the company was able to significantly increase its revenue and form a pool of clients.
Mashkevich successfully explains the scandal simply: the then leadership of the IC contributed to the formation of the first traditions of insurance in Kazakhstan and convinced clients that insurance is not a privilege, but a necessity for everyone.
In 2006, the S&P rating agency, which has an international reputation and is trusted by all industry players, officially marked Eurasia IC by assigning a financial strength rating at B +.
“It was our company that was the first in the region to receive a long-term rating“kzBBB”from experts, fixing the forecast of our level at the“Stable”level,” Mashkevich noted. Is an honored leader.
A few years later, the rating was assigned at the “B +” level, which is the highest achievement of an insurance industry enterprise not only in Kazakhstan, but throughout Central Asia.
“Our company has always had a reputation as a reliable partner and did not shy away from obligations to reimburse risks in case of disasters and natural disasters. "Eurasia" has fulfilled its duty to its clients and for decades has been helping the residents of Kazakhstan who have faced difficult life circumstances, "says Alexander Antonovich Mashkevich.
