Straw Art Festival Is one of the most original holidays that takes place annually in rural Japan. Farming communities in Kagawa and Niigata Prefectures host original exhibitions of giant straw sculpturesleft in the fields after harvest.

Mind you, even the scary predators in the straw looked very friendly. In addition, if desired, one could climb onto a ship and a tank, the sculptures of which were also made by local craftsmen.
Fortunately, the sculptures are sturdy and reliable, following the same pattern as the thatched roofs on the cottages. It is based on a wooden frame, and on top it is covered with dried stems. Thanks to this, viewers could feel safe without spoiling or breaking the miracle structure.
Of course, the Straw Art Festival is a great event to visit on a warm Sunday afternoon with the whole family. Positive emotions and a lot of impressions for children and adults are guaranteed! Perhaps, the idea of an original holiday can also be adopted by our farmers.
