One gets the impression that Eric Madigan Heck's fashion photographs are painted pictures, the heroines of which are flat cardboard dolls in two-dimensional space. And not without reason, because the photographer created a series of works in the style of the French Symbolist artists of the turn of the century Jean Édouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard.
It all started with the fact that fashion designer Mary Katrantzou prepared an autumn-winter collection of clothes, and it was urgent to capture it. And to take as unusual pictures as possible, since fashion photography is now at its best. So the author invited a young professional Erik Madigan Heck (Erik Madigan Heck). However, young - not in the sense of an inexperienced: about half of the 27 years he has lived in this world, he does not part with a camera.
Eric Madigan Heck grew up in a family whose members value good painting. The photographer's mother is an artist, his father is a collector, so from childhood the boy was taken to museums. And it was not in vain that they drove. In order to convey the atmosphere of painting with the help of photography, you need to feel this atmosphere as native.
Talented photographer Eric Madigan Heck claims that New York helped him to take place. But not in the sense that here the young master was cared for and cherished, blowing dust particles from the lens. On the contrary, he says, the city praised by Woody Allen greets you coldly, bristling with masses of skyscrapers. It seems that it is impossible to achieve success - the huge and inhospitable New York will ruthlessly crush you like a fly, wherever you come from and whatever you do. Nobody cares about you. Everything has to start from scratch.
The only way to stay afloat in New York is to do what you do, what sets you apart from others, create your own artistic territory, create and showcase your work. Asserting yourself, believing in yourself and converting others, like photographer Eric Madigan Heck did. 4 years ago he founded his own magazine about contemporary art "Nomenus", and also does fashion-photo shoots.
Fashion designer Mary Katranza's outfits inspired the photographer to take a time machine trip a century ago. Eric Madigan Heck visited the French symbolists Jean Édouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard. The style borrowed from them through friendship was very useful when creating fashion photographs. Thoughtful decorations + digital image processing = stylish photos and future profits.

We can say about the symbolist artists that they skillfully used the play of light and shadow, creating unthinkable images that amaze the imagination to painful perception and lead the viewer into an unusual state of mind.
