In the United States of America, almost every state has its own musical traditions. In Louisiana it's jazz, in Texas it's country, in New York it's rap. Here is a census of the musical regions of this country and the American artist decided to conduct Peter Geigercreating guitars from old car signs.
Old car signs have recently become a popular material for artists. For example, Dave Bowman made a map of the United States of America from them, and Peter Geiger makes guitars from them.
Geiger decided in this way to highlight the deep musical traditions of different regions of the United States. Indeed, in many states there is a penchant for certain musical genres, where their inhabitants reach tremendous heights.
So Geiger took the look of the guitars of famous performers from different states of the United States, recreating it from car license plates. For example, in his collection there are copies of musical instruments of such titans of the stage as Johnny Nash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, etc. There are also licensed copies of guitars from famous brands made from the above material.
Moreover, each of these guitars is a fully functional musical instrument that can really be played.
“Musicians love it when their working instrument presents them from different angles, for example, geographic. I give them the opportunity to express themselves, my school, my musical legend through unusual guitars, telling the public about who these people are and where they come from”- this is how Peter Geiger explains the idea of his works there.
