In Kiev, it was proposed to rename the local museum of Russian art. This initiative was put forward by the Standing Committee of the Kiev City Council on Culture, Tourism and Information Policy. She also approved the renaming of the Kiev National Museum of Russian Art into the National Museum "Kiev Art Gallery". According to representatives of the organization, thus, the institution is invited to return its real historical name. At the same time, the issue of renaming is exclusively in the competence of the founder of the museum. The founder is an organization called Kyiv City Council.
Meanwhile, representatives of the already mentioned Kyiv City Council stated that the decision to rename could have been made without taking into account the opinion of the worker in the institution, however, despite this, the survey was nevertheless carried out. The organization complained that a constructive dialogue with the representatives of the museum did not take place, the employees were not able to offer anything definite.
We will remind that earlier, namely in January of this year, it was known that the collective of the Kiev National Museum of Russian Art expressed indignation at the desire of the authorities to rename the institution. According to representatives of the museum, the desire to remove the word "Russian art" from the title is a manifestation, at least, of the highest level of incompetence.
Separately, it should be added that the Museum of Russian Art in Kiev was opened back in 1922. It was originally called the Kiev Art Gallery. In the collection of the museum you can see the most wonderful canvases by Valentin Serov, Vasily Perov, Viktor Vasnetsov, Ilya Repin, Arkhip Kuindzhi and Mikhail Vrubel.
