World famous pop singer Michael Jackson, who passed away in 2009, has set a new financial record, both among already dead performers and among those still alive. The corresponding publication appeared in Forbes magazine. The thing is that from mid-2015 to mid-2016 (over the past 12 months), the performer earned another 825 million US dollars. Most of that amount, 750 million, went to the sale of the rights to half of Jackson's Beatles song catalog. This deal took place back in March.
All this allowed Michael Jackson to climb to the first line of Forbes in the list of the most profitable deceased celebrities. In fairness, it should be noted that he has been holding the first place on this list for the past four years.
In second place is the artist Charles Schultz, who is the author of the Peanuts comics. Today this comic is considered one of the most popular in the world. An animated series was also filmed based on it. Schultz himself passed away in 2000. Over the past 12 months, the artist has earned $ 48 million. Third place went to golfer Arnold Palmer, who earned about $ 40 million.
Separately, it is worth recalling that quite recently a scandal erupted around several of Michael Jackson's companies that promoted him. The company, as well as the deceased himself, was sued and charged (not for the first time) that Jackson had cut children. Representatives of the companies went to court and declined to comment on the so far unsubstantiated accusations against them.
