He was proud of all her successes, whether it was her first swimming lessons or a well-played piece on the piano. He helped her with her homework and made a beautiful cardboard clock for her English lessons with his own hand.

When Maria became interested in ballet, Innokenty Mikhailovich began to support her daughter. Despite his own busyness, he periodically came to classes at the choreographic school, not without pleasure, noted that Maria has not only the ability to dance, but also an acting talent.

During the rehearsals at which he happened to be present, Innokenty Smoktunovsky was not only a spectator, he also gave professional advice, helped to add volume to the dance, to revive it. Despite the fact that he saw his daughter in the future as a dramatic actress, he respected her choice and was incredibly proud, seeing with what persistence Maria works every day.

When his daughter had an exam in classical dance, he brought her to the school. Afterwards, she warmed up at the machine in front of the window, and Innokenty Mikhailovich on the street sent her encouraging signs. The examiner soon noticed a famous actor outside the window and invited him into the hall. Needless to say, there were simply no those who did not pass the exam that day?

Ballet and cinema

After graduating from the Moscow Academic Choreographic School, Maria Smoktunovskaya was accepted into the troupe of the Bolshoi Theater. But her career somehow did not work out right away. She was not too busy in performances and gradually began to gain weight.

Innokenty Smoktunovsky again supported his daughter: he went on a diet with her. But Mary did not have enough willpower. Five years later, she was forced to leave the theater. The father worried even more than the daughter herself, but at the same time he never scolded her. And soon he invited her to try her hand at acting and asked the director Leonid Pcheolkin to put Maria in the role of Olga Dmitrievna in the film "Heart is not a stone", where he starred.

At the same time, she was also an assistant director.
