True talent is impossible to hide, and a direct proof of this is the impressive collection of monochrome photographs of Hong Kong, taken by a simple housekeeper from the Philippines. The photo project surprisingly subtly emphasizes the complexity of one of the largest megacities in the world, reveals many of the social problems of a densely populated city.
Ksiza Cruz Bakani (Xyza Cruz Bacani) Is a young Filipino girl who came to Hong Kong from the Philippines in search of a better life. Today Ksize is 27 years old, and for about 10 years she has been working as a housekeeper in a wealthy Chinese family. However, the main activity did not prevent the girl from revealing her creative nature. In the evenings, in his spare time from work, Bakani takes a camera and goes for a walk to capture the hectic city life of one of the most populous cities in the world. Black and white pictures taken by a talented maid are filled with genuine emotions and feelings. Ksiza's photographs reveal to the audience a deep author's view of the real life of the metropolis.
Bakani's talent could not go unnoticed: not so long ago, the girl became the proud owner of a prestigious scholarship 2015 Magnum Foundation on human rights, which means that the Filipino talent has received a unique opportunity to undergo intensive training at New York University, which will last six weeks. The course will help Ksize learn how to create full-fledged visual stories, with the help of which the photographer can further develop the theme of human rights in his home country.
Bakani creates her works using a Nikon D90 SLR camera, which the girl acquired after moving to Hong Kong using money borrowed from her employer. The camera helped Xize unleash her creativity and capture truly impressive images that caught the public's attention.
"Shanghai night" ("Shanghai Night") Is an equally interesting social photo project that reveals the complexity and contradictions of yet another Chinese metropolis.
