Not every person dares to meet a wild beast face to face. Sharp teeth and claws, standing on end fur and scary, bloodshot eyes - basically people see animals that way. But we rarely remember how beautiful they are in their natural habitat. The competition is dedicated to live photographs of the real life of animals. British Wildlife Photography Award.
The main prize is awarded to a snapshot recognized as the best in all nominations. This year's winner is a snapshot from Steve Young. His photo was chosen as the best one almost unanimously. Main judge Greg armfield (Greg Armfield) of WWF said this photograph is the most unusual of the many thousands of nominated photographs. Steve is receiving £ 5,000 from the British Photographers Association and the competition fund.
Also in the category "Portraits of animals" won Marcin zagorski (Marcin Zagorski) with a photograph of a mountain hare in the snow. The judges saw in this picture the special greatness of the northern beast, which is usually associated with cowardice and something insignificant.
The best pictures selected by the judges and the winning pictures in the remaining nominations will be included in the book.
