Erenhot city on the border of Mongolia and China, it is called the birthplace of dinosaurs, since it is here that scientists have discovered many remains of these animals. At the entrance to the city, travelers are greeted by two "Kissing" brontosauruslocated on both sides of the track. Undoubtedly, this sculptural composition can be called one of the greatest manifestations of tenderness in the world.
The statues of brontosaurs are striking in their size: each animal is 34 m wide and 19 m high, the distance between them is 80 m. There is a park in the vicinity, where you can see many dinosaur sculptures of all shapes and sizes. Park "Dinosaur Fairyland" is located in the Gobi Desert (by the way, there is a natural attraction in this desert - the picturesque Crescent Lake). International attention to Erenhot began when a number of scientific discoveries were made here in the 1920s related to the search for dinosaur remains. In the 1950s, the number of tourists increased even further as Erenhot became a famous shopping center, and was the only rail link between Inner and Outer Mongolia.
On the territory of modern Erenhot, dinosaurs lived in the Cretaceous period more than 70 million years ago. There were dense forests, swamps and lakes - favorable conditions for the habitation of more than twenty species of these animals. The most famous of all is the Gigantoraptor erlianensis, the largest bird-like dinosaur found to date (its length was about 8 m and a weight of 1.5-2 tons). His remains were found here in 2005.
In Erenhot, in addition to the park, there is a dinosaur museum, which tourists can also visit. The Arch of the Kiss was built in 200 and has become the hallmark of the city of dinosaurs. Brontosaurs in the Mongolian steppes look very organic, but the invasion of dinosaurs on Oxord Street, which we wrote about on the website Kulturologiya.ru a couple of years ago, caused a real sensation.
