One of the most popular movie fairy tales, which is always repeated on television in the New Year, has been the film "Twelve Months" for almost 50 years. One of the main roles in it was played by Liana Zhvania - she appeared on the screens in the form of the very capricious queen who ordered her to find snowdrops in December. She has played more than 60 theater roles and only 15 film roles. At the same time, for the majority of viewers, she remained an actress of one role. But it was thanks to her participation in the filming of the movie that the fairy tale appeared on the screens. More precisely, thanks to a romantic story that happened behind the scenes …

Only her colleagues called her Liana, because in a close circle she had a different name. The actress said: "". Liana has always been artistic and from the age of 6 she arranged home performances for the guests, in which she played all the roles at once.

After graduating from LGITMiK, she became an actress of the Leningrad Youth Theater, on the stage of which she performs to this day. At 23, Liana Zhvania made her film debut, and her first role became the main one, brought her all-Union popularity and became her hallmark. It was the queen in the movie "Twelve Months". Director Anatoly Granik wrote the script for the film based on the play of the same name by Samuil Marshak. This work was written during the war, in 1942-1943, and embodied the writer's belief that good always triumphs. A wonderful fairy tale gave hope for the best and made you believe that any miracles can happen to those who believe in them. Liana Zhvania saw the main idea of this play in the fact that "the warmth of kindness conquers winter in human relations."

In the lead roles, the director decided to shoot unknown actresses, whose faces had not yet had time to "light up" on the screens and were not associated with other roles. Liana Zhvania at that time was just graduating from theatrical institute and had never acted in films. She recalled her tests: "".

The director discussed the image of the movie heroine with the actress in all details, so that it does not turn out to be schematic and flat. He explained to her that the queen is capricious, because she is very young, grew up an orphan, at court she is surrounded only by hypocritical and deceitful people, and the only person who commands her respect is the old professor, but she is tired of his constant moralizing. The young actress listened to all the director's advice and followed his recommendations unquestioningly. Perhaps that is why her film debut turned out to be so successful.

The film was consulted by the son of the writer Immanuel Marshak. It was thanks to him that "Twelve Months" came out on the screens, because they were going to put the movie fairy tale on the shelf - the censorship saw political unreliability in it. The play touched upon the topic of the relationship between the authorities and the people, the herald sang a song:

The Queen is going to issue a new law of nature, according to which April will come instead of January, and she herself cannot take a step without a soldier in a snowy forest. And the brothers-months say that it is not a soldier with the queen, but vice versa. After the stepmother and daughter turn into dogs, the queen asks if her dogs, which walk in front of her on their hind legs, can be turned into people, and January replies: "". To convince the artistic council that there was no political overtones in such episodes, Immanuel Marshak traveled with the director to the film officials and managed to defend this film.

The son of Marshak fought for the release of the film for another reason: he was fascinated by the performer of the role of the queen and said that this was exactly his father who represented this heroine. Liana Zhvania called the meeting with Immanuel the main miracle in her life and said: "".

After the film was released, viewers bombarded Liana Zhvania with bags of letters, often whole families wrote to her. Even years after the performances, people approached her and asked: "You played the queen, right?" But, unfortunately, Liana Zhvania remained an actress of one role in the cinema. After her debut, she starred very little and appeared on screens, mainly in television plays. In the early 2000s. she played several episodic roles in films and TV series, but no one recognized the same queen from "Twelve Months" in her.
