After the service, he did not go anywhere. They said that Tikhonov got in touch with bad company, got carried away with horse racing, constantly disappeared at the hippodrome and got into big debts. He was always very reckless, and this played a cruel joke with him. In April 1972, 21-year-old Sergei Tikhonov died after being run over by a tram. It was rumored that this was not an accident at all. Director of "The Tale of the Boy-Kibalchish" Evgeny Sherstobitov said: "".
