As a child, Irina dreamed of becoming a ballerina or an actress, but her parents insisted that she get a "serious" profession, and after school she entered the Kiev University at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Kupchenko began acting in films while still studying at the school. The “discoverer” of her talent was Andron Konchalovsky, who once accidentally saw her in the corridors of “Mosfilm” and invited her to audition for his film “Noble Nest”. He was the first to draw attention to the fact that Irina looks perfect in such decorations - she seemed to be from the 19th century herself. Therefore, in his next project - the adaptation of Chekhov's work "Uncle Vanya" - Konchalovsky again invited the actress.
