Kupchenko began acting in films while still studying at the school. The “discoverer” of her talent was Andron Konchalovsky, who once accidentally saw her in the corridors of “Mosfilm” and invited her to audition for his film “Noble Nest”. He was the first to draw attention to the fact that Irina looks perfect in such decorations - she seemed to be from the 19th century herself. Therefore, in his next project - the adaptation of Chekhov's work "Uncle Vanya" - Konchalovsky again invited the actress. Already in the first works, an image was formed, which was often exploited by other directors - a fragile woman with a steel rod, at the same time feminine and "alien", strong and whole.
